Minsk to host interuniversity conference on demography 12 May


MINSK, 10 May (BelTA) – The 4th interuniversity student conference Demographic Risks of the 21st Century will take place in Minsk on 12 May, BelTA learned from the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA).

The event is organized as part of the project Support to the Implementation of the National Program of Demographic Security of the Republic of Belarus, funded by the Government of the Russian Federation, UNFPA and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The national executive agency of the project is the Labor and Social Security Ministry.

The forum will feature more than 70 reports from representatives of the leading universities of Belarus, Russia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, and Germany. The forum will also include three sections: Regional problems of social and economic development, Demographic development and social risks of countries and regions. Migration in the age of globalization, Regional problems of tourism. Geoecological development problems of countries and regions.

Students will attend the master class Population Forecasts by Doctor of Natural Science, Professor at Charles University (the Czech Republic) Tomas Kucera. A presentation of the students’ project Minsk Through the Geographer’s Eyes 2017 will take place as part of the event to mark 950 years of Minsk.

The conference is organized by the Education Ministry, the Belarusian State University, the Moscow State Pedagogical University, and Charles University.
